The Little Elephant

Salvo, a.k.a. Salvatore Mangione, accepted the city administration’s challenge to transform the city center into an outdoor art gallery. He created the gilded bronze elephant, a cheerful work integrated into the décor of the avenue, becoming a “living and breathing” monument. The palm-fringed elephant has become an urban landmark, loved by children who love to climb on it and touch its trunk, but also appreciated by adults for its surreal presence.
