LUOGO

Palazzina Azzurra

The Palazzina Azzurra will host the exhibition from July 18 to September 29, 2024. Sub Rosa. The Secret of Venus. Michelangelo Pistoletto and Mary Zygouri exhibition.
The event is organized by the Endeca Cultural Agitator Association in collaboration with the Plart Foundation.
The exhibition has the patronage of the City of San Benedetto del Tronto and Cittadellarte Pistoletto Foundation and is curated by Rosalba Rossi.

The elegant Palazzina Azzurra will host Michelangelo Pistoletto’s large white Carrara marble and steel sculpture “Pierced Rose” (1982-83) in the outdoor spaces, while a portrait of a woman from the famous Mirror Paintings series of the same years will be displayed inside.

At the same time, Mary Zygouri, an Athens-born visual artist who lives and works between Greece and Italy, will present in great synergy “Venus of the rags/In Transit/Eleusis,” a video of the site-specific performance that chronicles a hybrid procession, part litany, part traveling demonstration, in which Zygouri travels the streets of the city pulling the statue of Venus and the rag pile far and wide on a cart, among wasteland, abandoned industrial sites and construction sites left unfinished. The procession features the participation of the local community and the extraordinary participation of Pistoletto himself.
